Welcome to the first issue of the Orthogonal Newsletter! We plan to release this newsletter periodically to inform our readers of various resources, industry events, news items, and website updates.
Orthogonal Toolbox 1.0 Released
Orthogonal Software Corporation is proud to present Orthogonal Toolbox,
a free tool created to assist in the design and development of
orthogonal software.
Orthogonal Toolbox is an add-on to Microsoft® Visio® 2002 for Enterprise Architects (as bundled with Microsoft Visual Studio® .Net, Enterprise Architect Edition) that provides added functionality to the database modeling portion of the tool.
Orthogonal Toolbox currently contains the following features/functionality:
- XML export of the majority of the meta-model information contained in the ORM Source Diagram
- XML export of much of the meta-model information contained in the Database Model Diagram
- User selection of an XSLT style sheet to apply to the XML export
- User selection of model element types to be exported
- Full integration with Microsoft Visio for Enterprise Architects
- Corresponding XML Schema definition
- Sample XSLT style sheet for formatting XML results as an HTML report

New Website Unveiled
Orthogonal Software Corporation is also proud to present our new-and-improved website. We plan to make this website the first place you go to learn about the development of orthogonal software.
We hope the new site offers enough resources to help you now… but stay tuned: more good things are coming. Subscribe to this newsletter (see the next section) to receive occasional announcements of new site content.
On a more personal note: I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize the fine folks at be-gan-ik design. I’ve known Justin Bieganek for longer than either of us would care to admit (but I personally recommend him anyway). He’s a talented graphic-designer-turned-creative-director who has assembled an equally talented and professional crew. If you like his work here, get in touch with him (and tell him Scot sent you).

Microsoft has released Visio for Enterprise
Architects Service Release 1 which fixes
many bugs in the tool. You can download it
